Nichola Blakey

Violin, Viola & AT teacher

Nichola

Nichola grew up in Manchester before coming to London to study the viola (and eventually Baroque viola second study) at the Royal Academy of Music. She graduated in 2007 with a first class honours degree, and since then has been freelancing with many major orchestras and ensembles (including: BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Ex Cathedra, Orchestra of Opera North, The Brook Street Band) as well as touring the UK and Europe with various non-classical artists (including: Fyfe Dangerfield, Johann Johannsson). However, in 2009 she decided she needed a second direction and started the Alexander Technique teacher training course at Alexander Technique School Queens Park, from which she graduated at the end of 2012. At present she continues her freelance playing career, as well as teaching the violin at St Martin’s Prep School in  Mill Hill and North London Music Academy in Camden, and violin and viola privately. She also continues to build her private Alexander Technique teaching practise, as well as continuing her professional development which                                    includes voluntary teaching of acting students at ArtsEd in Chiswick each week.
